I personally think Cherry is going to redirect the missile and blow up the cannon, killing himself in the process.

I believe that these 'masterminds' are the guys who hacked into Gantz at the beginning of this entire invasion and were transfering gantzers out of that multinational battlefield with angels. Would have to recheck it, but that should be true...
