I've been wondering this for a while now, why doesn't he use his magic? With warp he could have jumped straight to town without meeting Locklin or straight to the capital and avoided several fights(including this one) and with wind summoning he could have saved Ilrnia, not to mention that learning other summons would probably make his fighting abilities without magic much stronger by strengthening his heart, with the added bonus of having all of the elements fighting on his side. If the author isn't even going to try to think about these things then s/he should just stop giving him so many abilities.
