Also really, Erza is going to finish her opponent off with that typical samurai outfit again, that shit is getting really repetitive.

So after Wendy's heroics it seems that she's out for the count, meanwhile Irene is back to her old body which shoudln't be in too much worse condition than before she did the enchantment (Wendy's body vs Irene's body - low-diff win for the Spriggan). Still though, Irene may have been able to tap into Wendy's potential and do some legit damage to her (Irene's) own body - but we'll have to wait and see I guess.



I also get the feeling that the stage is set for another ass-pull Erza victory, cuz we know she about to get that nakama powerup by being inspired by Wendy or something. It really depends on how much damage Irenes body took from the battle with Wendy. If she took little to no damage than considering Irene's previous feats in this arc, Erza has no right to be able to defeat her on her own. If it went that way then I would consider this to be the same bullshit rinse and repeat formula Mashima applies to all of Erza's (+ others) fights, and would also make Irene just as underwhelming as most of the other Spriggan. For the sake of this battles integrity - Mashima needs to make that distinction that Irene's body has in fact been weakened due to Wendy.



I hope that Irene doesn't just become another disappointing Spriggan but her backstory and connection to Erza have made her interesting as a character at least (IMO).



I really just wanna go back to the August vs Jellal (+ the seis) fight - even if it is another disappointing Spriggan fight, it's got my boy Jellal in it so I i'll be entertained either way :]

unfortunately, I did not enjoy this chapter as much as I hoped it would, the boob jokes well, fairy tail... getting more and more by the chapters.



The story itself this chapter could have been good, driving her out would have been more fun to see (instead of instant body switch as if it were that easy).

The whole body switch from wendy's part seemed a bit forced, to rush the chapter.

In my opinion, some parts need longer than 1 chapter. The start of this particular magic of Irene and the end of it felt rushed and thus making it disappointing, this could have been so much more.





Irene being this powerfull, to meet her end because of such a simple and stupid mistake. quite the letdown if it will end like this.

I actually found this chapter... Detailing (if that makes any sense)

This chapter, useless at first sight actually has a few meanings behind it. Irene is Erza's mother yet before this chapter she was no different from other enemies Erza had fought against; all just threaten her guild. Now what Irene did to Wendy made it more personal for Erza, thus the text at the last page of the chapter "pitch black hatred" was put, Irene hurt Erza's friend and Erza took away (I guess...) Irene's dream body. So in conclusion: the next fight will be all out, no mother daughter feelins, just pure hatred for each other. Also this chapter can also conclude ever the strongest female of the 12 spriggaids acknowledges Wendy's potential, and that, surprise surprise Irene didn't use Wendy's dragon Force, yet look at the destuction she did, and that maybe Wendy may or may not have gainted body switching magic. (Though I'll honest; this was not worth 3 weeks of waiting!)

1. The plottwist althoguh logical is something straight out of Yu Gi OH.



Villain:Ahhaha you see my magic card has this effect and WILL DESTROY YOU.



Yugi: But you see your magic card allows "both players" to acces it´s effect if they fulfill the conditions and I do fullfill them.



Villain: HOW COULD MY IMPENETRABLE MASTERPLAN HAVE SUCH AN OBVIOUS FLAWWWWWW!!!



Yugi: NOW WITH THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP I BANISH YOU TO THE SHADOW REALM!



This is the level of writing we witness here.







2.  I ranted enough about how little sense Irene´s backstory makes and how much it tries to evoke sympathy for her just to throw her immediately under the bus and make her an iredeemable child murderer.







3. No boob joke and fanservice can distract from broken plot. It´s out of place in a war scenario.This is literary the formula for  one of the worst jokes family guy ever delivered:

So instead of Wendy getting seriously injured because of Irene catching her off-guard, Hiro decided to make a rushed chapter of body-switching just to K.O. Wendy?



I think Irene will lose in a few chapters, meanwhile she's extremely strong. Or maybe she will become an ally, just like some other characters. I just doubt she'd die, since in this manga hardly anyone dies.

I just get this disappointment-like feeling that most of the times they defeat an opponent, they just fall into unconciousness so they can come back as a "plot-device". Or even if they die they are brought back to to life to fight again. Kind of slows the plot down, and I get confused who's yet to be fought.
