Indulging in alcohol isn't even sinful... It's the acts one does while drunk, but Cana has shown not to do anything bad while intoxicated. So no effect, done.

Mavis was never dead though. She just fell into a coma state after kissing Zeref. That was why Precht did experiment to try and wake her up again.
