And I was not talking about things that are underrated, but things that are difficult to find. For example in France you can't find Gintama in big stores and even in specialized ones, you have to get it on the internet. And Kingdom isn't even licensed and won't be because it's too expensive to buy a licence at this point. But our stores are full of Fairy Tail everywhere
Gintama is hard , nigh impossible to market with reasonable revenue outside of Japan, alone for the puns and insider jokes the series throws constantly at it´s audience in Anime or Manga form, so this isn´t surprising it´s not very popular.
I would guess that One Piece who is more popular than FT inside and outside of Japan as well as Naruto are more prominent in the france shops. I live in germany and here they are. I would be surprised to hear that it´s different
Kindgom tells the Romance of three kingdoms in Manga form, which is less marketable to western audiences then to eastern due to cultural differences.
It´s like telling a Manga version of Hercules and complaining that it didn´t do as good in China as it did in the American and european market.
So your whole argument boils down too marketing sucks and it should fit more your own tastes. Fairy Tail is by far not a good series, but way more accesible to a Manga reading audience due to it being a predecessor of Dragon Ball (Till this day the biggest Manga/Anime outside of Japan), rather then a series that parodies japanese Culture/Shounen Jump or a Manga based on a Chinese Legend/Ancient Novel.
