Buraiden Gai Chapter 27 Discussion

                        ----------------------------------------

Gai thought of a genius plan right in the nick of time..  I presumed the sofa wouldn’t be hollow but it was, they cut into it and hid right beneath the directors nose as he searched the rest of the room.  Many hours there and everyone will leave and give them a chance to escape.  Gai yet again proves that he is the hide and seek master!!!  Seriously though, that is such a great plan and hiding place, wow!  We also got news of Ishihara, he escaped into the mountains and there’s no sign of him!!  Therefore, Abe got the letter and Ishihara is free, both could come into play to help Gai’s escape in their own ways.

On the character side of things Ogawa and Gai had a nice little comfy scene inside that sofa.  Lying together like bros, even laughing at comments like “I’m used to it” as Gai starts to take responsibility for this, something he wanted to be alone so he could avoid, Gai realized something.  Something that I think is obvious, that sometimes two is better than one.  Being alone isn’t always the best.  I must say Gai’s obsession with self reliance feels a bit foreign to me even from the beginning, I loved getting to see the way he lives with freedom, but he’s so stringent on this I feel separated from him.  I guess his reasons were all understandable, he was just overly stubborn as to only now realize that being alone isn’t the best all the time.  I expected to see this with Ishihara but I suppose Ogawa works too!

Edit: Just thought of something I wanted to add.  Gai is a deeply stubborn character, one who will fight back despite it only burying him deeper because of his pride.  One that wants to do everything on his own and not rely on others.  So far the human institute has broken both of those aspects of him down.
