                        ----------------------------------------

I feel as though Gai showed some complexity this chapter!!  Last chapter I took letting Ishihara escape on his own as compassion but here he told the kids he can’t take the responsibility of another person.  So, in a sense, giving him the rope was the best way to get rid of him.  He wants everyone to STAND ALONE!!  Yet, he still gave Ishihara the means to escape, and here he showed that a large part of the self-reliance he cares so much for is so that he won’t have the regrets and guilt of tearing down others with him.  If that is true it goes with his idea of freedom quite well, freeing of restraints.  He felt remorse and apologized to them, he wants them to survive even if they are the kinds of people who lack self reliance.  “Let us live individually and die individually”!  The sad part of all of this is, maybe in another reality Ishihara could have been a good ally for Gai even now, the two guards remaining were like fate for both to get an outfit of their own.

Anyways, he made it to the directors room and can’t find the tape, nor can he call through to Abe unless he has a darn good impression of the director.  But, what he does have is a computer!  A way to escape the walls of this prison metaphysically and contact Abe to get another copy of that tape!
