canute is a real bitch for not meeting with thorfinn

Good chapter. It's interesting to see that while Thorfinn will now pursue the dream of Vinland, he won't do so at the expense of the people around him.



Will we finally get the much awaited revelation of what happened between Canute and Thorfinn? I sure hope so.

                        Raws are out. Thorfinn goes back to the farm to negotiate with Canute because he felt indebted to Patil and Ketil's father. Thorfinn introduces himself to the vikings as Thors' son and Canute's acquaintance from four years ago, but the viking calls Thorfinn a liar and that he knew Thorfinn was a slave the moment he smelt him.



The meeting escalates to a fight. Canute asks Ulf what the noise was about, and he informs him that a man on behalf of Ketil came. Canute and Floki become shocked when Ulf utters Thorfinn's  name, and Ulf asks Canute whether he knew him. Canute denies that and Floki comments that both Thors and Thorfinn aren't that uncommon of names.



The vikings start betting on the fight, and Thorfinn ends up betting on himself that if he won they let him see Canute. The vikings settle on that if Thorfinn endures 100 hits they'll let him see Canute, but if he loses they'll kill him. In the  preview for the next chapter: Thorfinn regains his resolve.



The way that Canute brushed Thorfinn off makes me wonder what happened between them after Askeladds' death. Hope we'll get a flashback.

Ah, a shonen fighting manga. I wonder if the guts and bonds are strong enough.

Even if Thorfin succeeds, which would be rather ridiculous, I don't think they will allow him an audience. More likely they'll gang up on him in anger and Ulf will intervene. Though what could Thorfinn offer the king in exchange for sparing the Ketils I don't know, negotiations must involve a trade after all.



The only thing that Thorfinn possesses that's of value to Canute is his fighting skills. In order to realize his ambitions Canute needs to surround himself with as many strong men as he can. Maybe he will offer Thorfinn to rejoin him as his bodyguard. Of course, Canute will still keep the farm, but maybe if Thorfinn agrees to his demands he might not declare the Ketils' as outlaws.



I too wonder how Thorfinn will be able to move around and keep all of his teeth intact after receiving 100 hits. I hope Yukimura will explain that trick that Thorfinn spoke of logically.

why Canute didn't want to meet him already? and 100 HIT..who the hell got bet for 90 HIT LOL

That's a crazy amount of hits.

Receiving 100 hits from a man who kills bears is a lot. I'm not sure Thorfiin will make it.

Thorfinn is becoming more annoying with his high morality crap

It's safe to assume that Thorfinn will prevail in the end and he will get to meet Canute. I also have a hunch that Canute might end up agreeing to spare Ketil and his farmers in exchange of something that Thorfinn will hate to do. Maybe the quest for Vinland will be put off until later.

Thorfinn has to be the best character in the series now
