On the seventh day after transmigrating into Shenjia Village, Shen Yao met He Shi for the first time. He mocked her coldly:

“Have you gone crazy wanting to get into the city? Let me teach you something. The household registration policy is right there. Even if you marry an educated youth, you still won’t be able to move into the city. Scheming so much, be careful you end up sacrificing yourself and getting nothing in return.”

Later, when he heard that a matchmaker had visited the Shen family, He Shi hurriedly blocked Shen Yao beside a haystack.

“Let’s date.”

Shen Yao shook her head.

“I won’t marry an educated youth.”

Only a few days after arriving in Shenjia Village as a sent-down educated youth, He Shi found the production team leader’s daughter climbing into his bed in the middle of the night. He immediately dragged her out and gave her a stern lesson.

Not knowing that she was mentally impaired, he assumed she would stop at nothing to get into the city. From then on, he looked down on her greatly.

Later, when he learned that she actually possessed the mind of a five- or six-year-old child, he felt guilty. Fearing that she might unknowingly behave the same way toward other male educated youths, he began paying constant attention to her and watching over her everywhere. By the time he realized what was happening, he had already fallen hopelessly in love.

After recognizing his feelings, He Shi decided to win over his future brother-in-law first.

“I like your sister. I’m serious about marriage, and I don’t mind her mental condition.”

Shen Gang replied:

“…My sister got better a long time ago. Didn’t you know?”

This is the story of a noble young lady from a marquis household who is reborn as a farmer’s daughter and, through her own efforts, rises to become part of a wealthy family. A coming-of-age period farming novel.

Work Review

A noble young lady from an ancient aristocratic family transmigrates to the year 1970 and falls in love with a privileged young man who has been sent to the countryside as an educated youth. Their relationship develops from mutual dislike to mutual understanding and love.

In the early stages, the emotionally clueless male lead mistakes love for concern and guilt, repeatedly digging pitfalls for himself. This is essentially a story of enjoying the thrill of criticizing his future wife, only to end up suffering through a disastrous wife-chasing journey later, burying himself in every hole he dug. It is also a story about two young people who have rarely experienced hardship growing up and gradually mature through life’s challenges.

The male lead is the embodiment of “sharp tongue, soft heart” and an exceptionally devoted wife-spoiler. Expect plenty of face-slapping moments, “turned out I was wrong” realizations, and an abundance of sweetness. Both protagonists undergo significant personal growth.

The writing is light and smooth, with an engaging plot. It vividly portrays the fluttering emotions of first love, the foolishness of being unaware of one’s own feelings, the painful longing of unrequited affection, and the sweetness of mutual devotion.
