The "can't swim" aspect serves as the foundation for most of the limited plot: childhood trauma tied to a mysterious memory of a mermaid, and a beautiful transfer student with an air of mystery who appears to recognize him from the past joins the team... Fast forward about 100 chapters of swim team ecchi comedy, and you can probably guess the outcome.
The artwork is commendable. The swimming scenes appear impressive (at least to someone who has never participated in competitive swimming), and the girls are all adorable and uniquely characterized.
The humor aligns with typical ecchi fare but is executed effectively. The asexual adonis team captain is riotous, as is the shy, big-breasted girl who harbors secret perverted tendencies. The protagonist fits the mold of a standard milquetoast harem lead; the main female character is cute and hyperactive, primarily serving to ignite whatever explosive situation is brewing.
The romance is charming and sweet, yet if that's your primary interest, there isn't much to offer. A few chapters at the start, some scattered throughout the middle, and a rather hurried (but happy) conclusion. There isn't even much harem dynamics here; the girls mostly interact with one another while the male lead passively observes.
Nevertheless, if you enjoy ecchi shounen comedies, Umisho is far from the worst option. Don't anticipate a deep plot or significant romance—this isn't even on par with To Love Ru or Nisekoi, let alone Love Hina. Instead, expect plenty of cute girls in swimsuits engaging in wild antics, often hilariously so.
I think term " Netori " fits perfectly.
And thanks for confirmation, I was about to drop.
