    This book makes me want to rip my hair out, it was good at the start, but then there is a 12 year time skip. After the skip the story isn’t nearly as entertaining, and the chapters keep repeating and retconning things that just happened. One chapter will end with x character being knocked out in a room. To them have the next start with the same character outside prior to being knocked out except this time they don’t get knocked out. Or they will be going to the capitol for a ball “in a few days” to then not go to the capital right away, and when they get there they go “we have to leave because we don’t want to be near the royal family.” It’s stuff like that, that really kills my enthusiasm for this book. Though Mary is very entertaining.
