When you transmigrate as a marshal’s spouse, don’t be happy too soon.

The reason is that you’re probably an undercover agent who’s noble and cold on the surface, but steals information and plays deadly tricks behind the scenes; a villain who pretends to be a sickly white lotus flower, but actually has a heart as black as the bottom of a pot; and an unlucky bastard who was finally executed by the marshal himself on a live broadcast across the stars.

Popular name: Cannon Fodder.

Unfortunately, Duan Hengye just became such a cannon fodder.

Duan Hengye decided – divorce! Get divorced early! There is no limit to the sea of pain.

The temperament and appearance of the white lotus, the identity background of the chief of the Imperial Academy of Sciences, and the force value hidden in the disguise was as high as an explosive watch. He could win if he played!

However, the marshal did not want to leave, but pulled him more and more tightly.

The system prompt:

Your divorce application has been rejected.

It's quite monotonous to read about one-dimensional characters. I don't understand why many readers claim the characters are realistic when they actually lack depth. Whenever the main character (MC) accomplishes something impressive, the internet users' constant praise feels robotic, bordering on repetitive. I'm only up to chapter 84, so I'm unsure if the fact that MC is an undercover agent has been revealed or utilized as a plot point yet.

I find it frustrating that numerous characters with significant potential are pushed to the background, like ML's nephew. Despite being an orphan living with the MC and ML, he's barely given attention, while even minor characters like ML's subordinate's daughter receive more screen time. The genius student also fades away, disappearing after assisting the MC, which adds to the repetitiveness.

The story is riddled with unnecessary filler content, making it tedious. The constant reminders of MC's intelligence and good looks become tiresome, especially since it's expected since the reader already knows these traits. The author seems intent on emphasizing MC's brilliance, but the result is redundant and unengaging. The hacking scenes feel underwhelming, which is understandable given the author's portrayal of the characters' intellect.

Overall, the book isn't terrible, but it's definitely lacking excitement. The author would greatly benefit from a thorough editor to refine the narrative and maintain reader interest.

Alright, let me start by saying that this book is one of my go-to relaxation reads. It has a light touch on angst and drama, which keeps the story engaging without being overwhelming. The plot itself is straightforward, without any twists and turns.

The romantic aspect is well done, especially if you're into slow-burning, steady relationships with a bit of an enemies-to-lovers theme. Although there's tension due to their initial conflict, it's handled subtly because both main characters act as if they're unaware of the undercover nature of their situation.

Overall, it was a fantastic read, perfect for a break from more intense narratives. However, I have to admit, I find myself secretly hoping for a change in the dynamic – I'd like to see the male lead experience a wider range of emotions, not just being gentle and composed all the time. I'd love to see him vulnerable, even cry.

What's also refreshing about this BL novel is the character's positive attitude towards children. He doesn't view them as a threat to the relationship, which is a rare and heartwarming touch. The scene involving childcare in the extra content is particularly adorable and adds to my enjoyment.

In conclusion, this book is a definite recommendation for those looking for a feel-good, low-key romance. Just remember, there might be a part of you (like me) longing for a deeper emotional exploration from the main love interest.

I have mixed feelings about this novel. On the positive side, Duan Hengye and Meng Jinhuai are captivating characters whom I genuinely adore. Their love story develops authentically, and their trust for each other grows swiftly, making their connection incredibly sweet. However, I'm disappointed with the lack of emotional depth due to the author's choice not to delve into those intimate scenes. For instance, towards the end, there's a highly anticipated reunion after an emotional event, but instead of showing the reunion, the narrative abruptly shifts to the ML searching for the MC, and we never witness their meeting. This happens frequently, where tender or touching moments are either truncated or completely omitted without any explicit sexual content.

Though some readers might criticize plot holes or character development, I could overlook those issues if there were more intimate scenes between the protagonists. The author focuses too much on their individual journeys, which is a missed opportunity, as their relationship has incredible potential. The story could have been much stronger if there were extended moments exploring their connection.

In summary, I do enjoy the tale, but the author sacrifices the heartwarming parts for extensive exposition. I'd recommend reading it for Duan Hengye and Meng Jinhuai's characters, but be prepared to skip over the lengthy information dumps.

The narrative is engaging with a unique premise, as the protagonist, a skilled mecha designer, plays an active role in the story. However, the pacing is slow and turns out to be my main issue. The book becomes monotonous due to the excessive information dumping in every chapter. Initially, I found it intriguing when the author delved into the intricacies of the mecha design, but soon realized that the level of detail often strayed into made-up explanations, which felt unrealistic and difficult for readers without prior knowledge of the mecha world.

The author attempts to educate the audience about the technical aspects, but it comes across as an overwhelming load, especially when the general public's understanding is not assumed. If the author could simplify the jargon and maintain a balance between description and plot progression, I might have continued reading. Unfortunately, after reaching chapter 61, I've decided to move on from this book.

Though it has its merits, I've decided to stop. Most of what I wanted to express has been covered in previous reviews. The pace is sluggish, and it fails to live up to the billing as a romantic tale. The plot initially intrigued with its mysteries and futuristic setting, but unfortunately, it lacked depth and coherence. The storytelling felt平淡, marred by inconsistencies and underdeveloped characters. The author seemed to lavish more attention on world-building than fleshing out the characters, which became quite frustrating.

The story desperately requires an editor to trim down the excessive scenes, as only about one in five chapters contains significant plot points. The unnecessary fillers would be tolerable if they were engaging, but unfortunately, they fall flat. The narrative voice is shockingly平淡, lacking any emotional depth, which is killing my interest. A bit more passion or emotion would go a long way.

Moreover, the descriptions are shallow and fail to adequately convey crucial details. The settings are poorly developed, making it difficult to visualize them. The scene transitions are jarring and disrupt the flow, frequently pulling me out of the story. Immersion is next to impossible with the current state of the narrative.

I truly appreciate the intricate plot progression. Initially, I found it a bit bewildering, but my interest grew with each passing chapter. The pacing is gradual, and尽管它并非以浪漫为核心,但我很享受角色之间的微妙互动。目前而言,我对故事的后续发展充满期待。

If you prefer a fast-paced narrative with intense action and dramatic confrontations, "Marshal's Cannon Fodder Spouse" might not be your ideal choice. The storytelling pace is deliberately slow, with the main characters, DHY and the Marshal, embroiled in a complex political intrigue from the beginning. However, rather than focusing heavily on external events, the book delves deeper into their emotional journey, particularly Hengye's personal growth and evolving relationships, which were the two aspects that resonated most with me.

The other standout feature was the world-building. Although some might view it as filler, I genuinely appreciated the attention given to showing characters engage in their daily activities, such as Hengye teaching and researching, and glimpses into Meng Jinhuai's responsibilities and his men's lives. The author didn't delve into extensive technical or political details, but the attempt to create a believable and internally consistent backdrop was a pleasant surprise.

While there were no groundbreaking innovations, the writing felt grounded and realistic. The story maintained a solid 3 out of 5 stars, though my personal rating was bumped up by half a star due to the charming character Su-ge, who brought a lively touch to every scene he appeared in (and perhaps even my aging heart). If you enjoy character-driven narratives with a slower pace and a sweet, heartfelt romance, this book could be a good fit for you. The relationship between the main characters was both healthy and endearing, although it would have been nice if the pacing allowed for a bit more depth and development.
