Luke wakes up to find himself in the body of the villain who competes with Theo, the protagonist of the war fantasy novel The Flower of the Battlefield, for the position of Commander-in-Chief. Determined to fulfill his role as the villain, Luke works hard to act the part.
Even when Theo misunderstands his intentions, Luke faithfully carries out his duties as the antagonist. After wrapping up his role and successfully ensuring Theo’s happy ending, Luke retires from the military and walks away from it all, intent on creating his own peaceful epilogue.
Or so he thought…
“Why are you doing all this? I’m not even a soldier anymore, and it’s not like we ever got along.”
Unexpectedly, Luke reunites with Theo, only to find him behaving differently—clinging to him persistently in a way he never imagined.
“I want to know you better.”
It’s a baffling statement that doesn’t even answer the question.
Why would the protagonist track down his former rival and ask for help just to “get to know him better”?
If you’re into rival-to-lovers dynamics with a mix of sweet, slow-burning romance and compelling character development, this is the story for you!
