The Sick Villain Just Want to Live

No matter what anyone says, to me, Shao Ming comes across as very intimidating. He subtly manipulates Zhu Dong through verbal tricks to get what he wants. While it’s not always obvious, the frequency of these instances makes me feel uneasy while reading. It’s a compelling story, and I can vouch for its quality. However, if you’re as sensitive to manipulation as I am, reading this might feel like wading through molasses. It’s sweet and insightful, but it can be quite sticky.

It's a good thing I gave it a chance. I read a review here after scrolling that made me lower my expectations for this, but thanks to that, it was as immersive as it could be because the story is good! It was surely an easy read, and what I really like about it is that the system is almost non-existent but was also part of the core of the story.

The gradual development of both the main character (MC) and the love interest (ML) is so natural, although some might feel uncomfortable with how Shao Ming takes advantage of our Tongtong. But setting aside real-life principles, I can totally understand Zhu Tong's dependence on Shao Ming. I do feel that Xia Weiyi's presence in the book is a bit overshadowed. He didn’t have enough screen time in what could have been his significant role in the novel. That part was a bit underwhelming for me.

The pacing is rather tedious. When the plot is in motion, the story is quite engaging. However, there's an excessive amount of slice-of-life content in between. Chapter after chapter of the characters shyly dancing around each other and flirting, while significant plot developments are wrapped up in just one chapter. It has taken me 23 days to get through 83 chapters because I keep losing interest. I might just give up at this point.

I absolutely adore the relationship between our main character (MC) and the male lead (ML). It’s heartwarming to see how comfortable MC feels around ML, and ML is doting, super caring, responsible, and protective. They are just so cute together!!!

The development of their relationship is fantastic, and MC’s grandpa is amazing too!!!

I’m leaving a mark here to finish reading later. Despite his weak body at the start, MC is headstrong and has his own ideals and methods of fighting. ML gradually falls in love with our adorable MC, who is very straightforward. They fit each other perfectly, especially as they support each other when one needs it. There is a side couple, but their story will mostly be told in side stories.
