The chemistry between them is very wholesomee, i wish i had a partner like them aaaaaa😩
The plot isn't very simple but it's very enjoyable... if you don't have homophobia, u must read this
I love it! Watching broken souls become mended have easily become one of my favorite things! The main character is so admirable and I love reading her thought process. It is a little confusing at first, but it starts to make sense the more you read, so don't give up on this book! ♥️
Red River is one of my most cherished and favorite mangas, and I have to choose between it and an all-time favorite for my top list. I read it years ago and still revisit it from time to time because I was so captivated and remain very much in love with it. It was the reason why I started exploring other works by Chie Shinohara, including Ao No Fuuin. As with most of Shinohara-sensei's works, this manga also falls under the supernatural genre. Of course, there's romance—one of the genres I'm always eager to dive into. This has been on my list for quite some time before I finally had the chance to finish reading it. I'm not usually fond of writing reviews, but I couldn't help myself when it came to Ao no Fuuin.
Story 7/10
I'm giving it a 'good' score. While it shares similarities with some mangas I've read (like the human-demon theme), I appreciate how it was constructed and developed. The plot may not be entirely original, but the story was well-written and effectively utilized by Shinohara-sensei, typical of her usual genre.
Art 8/10
The art gets a 'very good' rating from me. As usual with Shinohara-sensei's artwork, it’s well-defined, clean, and appealing.
Character 5/10
This is where things didn't work out for me. I apologize, but despite trying to avoid personal bias, I really didn't care for Soko's character. She wasn't strong and came across as naive to the point of being irritating. She wanted to do the 'best' for everyone but was easily manipulated, often ending up doing the 'worst.' The other characters were developed nicely and had valid reasons for their actions, but Soko... ugh! It was frustrating because she's the heroine, and the story revolves around her. In one way or another, she has the power to either make or break the overall development of the manga.
Enjoyment 5/10
Some of you might have enjoyed Ao no Fuuin and found it to your liking. That may be true, but personally, I was extremely annoyed to the point that I started flipping through 3-5 pages at a time because I found certain scenes annoying, unnecessary, and boring. I was inwardly screaming 'idiot' and 'stupid,' blaming myself for continuing to read it even though many scenes were aggravating and maddening. However, being annoyed wasn't enough for me to drop it, so I read it until the end.
Overall, I considered giving it a score of 4 (bad)... but basing that solely on my frustration would be unfair. The ending was decent and satisfying enough, I must admit. Although some who've read this might not agree with my score, this is my personal take on Ao no Fuuin. Some might agree with me, while others probably won't, but I'm giving it an average score of 5.
