This isekai series stands out as one of the more well-crafted, where the protagonist is reincarnated as a tutorial NPC, only to meet an unfortunate demise in the opening episode. The storytelling is unusually deep, and what sets it apart is the MC's underpowered nature compared to typical isekai protagonists. Despite being tagged with 'Tragedy,' the narrative doesn't fulfill that expectation; the main character displays a sharp wit, humor, and overall makes for an enjoyable reading experience.

This book is fantastic! The main character (MC) faces immense challenges due to his low stats, and he ingeniously employs his gaming expertise to overcome tough opponents. There are also humorous moments that resonate with readers, especially when the MC cleverly exploits game mechanics during grinding sessions for experience. What I particularly appreciate is the character development of the MC's disciples; they evolve significantly throughout the story. And there's a surprising twist towards the end, revealing that the game world they thought they knew is actually much deeper and different than anticipated.

The novel "I'm Not a Hero" Volume 1 presents itself as an official light novel that explores the author's background as a game developer, who enjoys designing challenging tasks for players. However, the protagonist's journey benefits from this, as the author, as a player, desires their character's success. Unlike typical game-world novels, the world of Braves & Blades is intricate and well-designed, but still retains some realistic elements, such as the MC exploiting the limitations of dungeon walls.

The MC cleverly utilizes gaming mechanics, like recognizing the Wiimote's unique input for sword techniques, granting them an advantage over stronger enemies. The author skillfully incorporates these elements into the story, ensuring that the encounters remain engaging and logical.

Rex Tauren, the MC's reincarnation, starts as a low-level character meant to assist players early on but becomes redundant due to difficulty leveling up. This aspect adds a layer of depth to the story, catering to readers who appreciate video games and their mechanics.

While the novel offers an intriguing blend of gaming and fantasy, those seeking a conventional fantasy narrative might find the focus on the game world somewhat disappointing. The battle scenes are enjoyable and character-driven, but the frequent shifts in perspective can sometimes detract from the overall plot.

Overall, based on Volume 1, the book earns a solid 4 out of 5 stars for its unique take on the gaming theme, but might not fully satisfy fans looking for a deep, immersive fantasy experience.

It appears intriguing. Impressive world construction and a well-developed protagonist. Coupled with exceptional translations, I eagerly anticipate future updates.
