I sighed and looked down at the stick. It was freshly cut off a tree, the tinier branches barely scraped off. Dad wasn't going to budge anytime soon, though, so I shifted my feet in the stance he had just taught me, raised the stick to my right shoulder, and swung down as I stepped forward.
