I'm going to be honest, this novel has very little adventure, a lackluster MC personality, and the whole berserker thing seems extremely odd. The skill text that the MC reads are also pretty funky.
Not sure if MC is suppose to be a Gauls or a asian mountain person like the Miao or something similar.

"of all the vices that we have, sentiment is the one which keeps the world running"

This is definitely not er gen's best work, from a critical perspective. But it is most definitely his most beautiful work till date. So much so that I would rank it just below Mao ni's nightfall and I Am Ink's grasping evil.

This novel has transcended the bounds of xianxia, just like my former mentions. It is emotionally verbose to a very magnitude.

Some of the underlying philosophies are such that each of us might relate to it some extent.

Agreed,  that this novel is not without er gen's use of his typical plot devices and grand scale deus ex machina, some of which might even be considered cliché, but nonetheless, it is a stellar novel. With a mind blowing world building, super emo characters and er gen's standard 'screw the heavens' tone of the protag throughout the story, this should be a definite read for the enlightened readers looking for something meaty, especially if you're looking for grit in a xianxia which is rarer than a blue moon

My most favorite Er Gen novel in existence--and yes, i've read ISSTH, RI, AWE, AWWP but honestly, for me, nothing could compare to this work. I absolutely loved Su Ming as a character and how he grew throughout the series. I also loved most of the cast, and I think that Er Gen did the main villains justice, despite my searing hatred for what they've done. I enjoyed every book--though I felt that the berserkers vs immortals part in book 3 was kind of dragged out, but I also think that books 5-6 are what really hit me the most. Recalling it now, my heart hurts again.

The first novel i ever readed, that brought me better understanding in the true essence of "life" and the various principles that commands "life".
Er Gen, definitly reached a lot of ephitany on the "mastery of the mind" and it is reflected in this story.
Thank you Mr Author, thank you Mr/s Translator, thank you Mr/s Editor.

Why do we read? Do we read for reading? Why do we eat? Do we eat to eat?......
This novel is the only must read i would ever recommand in your pursuit of mastery of your highter self, it brings perspective that you can't find anywhere else.

    The Universe is amazing.

All i can say is that this novel isn't getting the love it deserves from QI. Instead of promoting generic stories that revamp the same arc with different characters for 2000 chapters this should be brought front and center as a quality novel and translation. The best novel on this site(imho).

A life like a fading dream. A desperate struggle against one’s fate. A pursuit of the hidden truths in life. To unravel one’s past to create their own future.

That first paragraph was a summary of the vast majority of the book without any spoilers. Er Gen once again makes a fantastic novel, one that is filled with intrigue and ever growing mystery as we, discover the truths hidden behind the veil of endless veil of lies that we witness slowly unravel during Su Ming’s desperate struggle against his fate.

This book has probably the best world building I’ve ever seen. The already masterful world building slowly comes undone to reveal even more masterful world building filled with endless mystery and emotion. If you start this book and doubt that it’s worth continuing DO NOT drop it, the further you make it the more it will entrance you.
