The narrative unfolds as a heartwarming tale, yet ultimately concludes on a somber note. The reaper, or Shinigami, is portrayed as a detached figure, solely dedicated to his duties. Enter Asahi Katagiri, the unfortunate individual whose death announcement awaits. Despite his compassionate nature, Asahi's reaction to the news is initially disbelief followed by swift acceptance, which while understandable, lacks depth.

While the story's premise was charming, the tragic elements and emotional intensity failed to resonate. The pacing seemed hurried, making it difficult to fully grasp the unfolding events despite a clear plot structure. The protagonist, Shinigami, provided some enjoyable moments with his introspective thoughts and reactions, but Asahi's character felt underdeveloped. His response to his impending death was reduced to shock and acceptance, without any significant emotional exploration, even compared to the reaper.

Additionally, the romance in the story felt rushed and突如其veness, as if it was shoehorned in. Overall, the tale is decent, but it falls short in terms of emotional impact and character development. The translations, however, are commendable.
