Your entire race has been wiped out but you barely even care?Someone here just said he doesn't know the Magi so there's no reason to be upset over their fate.Ok...But you are the same race. Right in the enemy camp. A slave already.The truth is that the author is only interested in developing the romance element to the detriment of all others.Allowed.But everything else must match the world and make sense.
