I gave it a chance. Read ten chapters, found myself skimming through it by the end. The prose needs a lot of work, the scenes have no suspense and the overall story just doesn't have anything that warrents my continued interest. This kid is already 18 and still a nobody. If it was intentional, then that just means the author has no foresight. LEGENDS are the best, and they show it early on. Messi being a prime example. Him STARTING at 18 already makes him far worse then his competitors it terms of future fame. I'm disappointed with it, but it seems like a trend with sport novels. Every author botches the beginning.
I'm at chapter 107 and I have to say I'm enjoying the story. Characters are great including the mc, and the pace is fantastic. The games are exciting as well and I find myself feeling similar to how I would feel watching a live match. Which is quite impressive on the authors part as this could make or break the story. Thankfully it was done well. 5/5.
