Tan locked eyes with her over his wineglass, she was pretty as sin. He wanted her, he wanted to take her right there. He could barely remember the last time he felt this strongly about any woman. What surprised him most was the fact that he didn't just want her body, he wanted her heart too.
Most of the women he knew were all golddiggers, and he could get any of them between his sheets for the right price, so why the hell was this one proving stubborn?
She shifted her gaze from his, "The wine is nice," She said smiling nervously, wanting to say anything to break the silence. She may be naive but she knew desire when she saw it, and she could see it written all over his eyes. The thought of it made her heartbeat quicken. 'You have a boyfriend, what are you doing letting yourself get attracted to this guy?' she asked herself.
He could tell she was nervous, it made him smile. It reassured him to know he still had that effect on females, especially this one that roused everything in him.
He reached across the table and placed his hand over her hand making her jump. He chuckled, "Calm down girl, I don't bite. you just look so nervous, I wanted to calm you down." He said, laughter dancing in his eyes.
"I'd appreciate it if you keep your hands to yourself. I don't appreciate being touched randomly like that," She said with a frown.
"I'm sorry, I'll try to let you know before I touch you next time," he said with a smile, making her know he intended to touch her again.
"We'll be attending the wedding tomorrow with you as my date. I hope you won't jump up everytime I touch you. that would raise suspicion don't you think?" He said with a wicked glint in his eyes
"Isn't that what this whole week has been about? You have nothing to worry about, I'll do it right. But until then keep your hands to yourself." She said with a polite smile.
We'll see about that. Tan thought.

Story:
It begins quite simply. I wasn't expecting a complex narrative, but there was a bit of an overarching story near the end. Honestly, I thought for sure the sumo guy would end up marrying Paifu's mom, but that didn't happen.
Art:
The artwork is perfectly acceptable. Nothing stands out, but it gets the job done.
Character:
It's fairly straightforward. Paifu is a reckless little kid who happens to be a vampire, with a friend who's rather shy and doesn't have much depth beyond that. There's also a rival who isn't really a friend but serves as competition. No one really evolves past these basic traits. The wrestler character is somewhat cool, I suppose.
Enjoyment:
It wasn't a struggle to get through, but I wasn't rushing to finish it either. It's decent—something that would likely entertain a child, who might find it quite enjoyable.
Overall:
Refer to the enjoyment section.

Frankly, I didn't enjoy this at all.
What disappoints me is that I could easily see myself appreciating this concept because Toriyama had already crafted a superior version early in Dragon Ball's run. Back then, the main characters were children, and the world was delightfully whimsical. In contrast, this series offers nothing but crude humor and childish rivalries that quickly become irritating. The artwork failed to captivate me, the characters were grating, and the jokes weren't even amusing. While I recognize it's targeted at a younger audience, early Dragon Ball catered to the same demographic successfully. What truly bothered me was that after a few chapters, it became evident that Toriyama discarded the slice-of-life elements entirely and shifted focus to combat sequences, which felt lackluster and unnecessary. Again, it wasn't awful, but it didn't add much value.
I didn't have high expectations for this series, yet it still managed to let me down. It's not abysmal, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone older than 8.

Every time I revisit Cowa!, I uncover new layers and details that I had missed before.
Akira Toriyama is undeniably a genius in every possible way, and the main character, Paifu, is just adorable.
I highly recommend this manga to everyone. If you're hesitating about giving it a try, don't. You'll be thoroughly satisfied.
And if I ever have a child, I'll introduce them to this manga and watch in amazement as they grow to love it with each page turn.

This is another Manga crafted by Akira Toriyama, and I enjoyed it more than some of his other short manga works. He excelled here in crafting a narrative that kept the reader engaged from start to finish.
So, yes, I am going to recommend that you read this story because, if you haven't picked up on it already, I will make it very clear: I thoroughly enjoyed this manga.

Art: The artwork is quite impressive. The monsters are adorable, and the humans are amusing in their depiction, particularly Maruyama and the witch. One thing I don't quite get is why the first chapter is in color while all subsequent chapters are in black and white.
Characters: The characters are fantastic. I admire how they've created diverse characters inspired by various monsters like vampires and ghosts, along with human characters. Every character in this series is enjoyable in their unique way.
Enjoyment: The entire work was executed exceptionally well. It was exciting, cute, funny, had some action, and even a touch of darkness, yet remained thoroughly enjoyable.
Overall: There's not much else to add, but I absolutely loved this manga and believe it deserves a 10 out of 10. It would be incredible if this series got an OVA or a movie.
The story is very simple, starting with a few chapters of the main character Paifu and his friends causing various mischief around his village, Cape Bat. It then takes a new direction when the village has an outbreak of a terminal disease, monster flu. Paifu, along with his friend Jose, rival Apone, and the loner and grumpy human ex-sumo wrestler Maruyama, embarks on a journey to retrieve the cure from a mountain witch in a faraway land. Along their journey, they see new cities and towns, meet new people, and have a lot of fun.
The characters are quite typical for kids' mangas: our naughty yet good-hearted Paifu, his funny little friend Jose Rodriguez who farts when he's nervous, the serious and very strong Maruyama, and the typical rival Apone who opposes Paifu and tries to do better at almost everything. While they may not seem anything special at first glance, as a whole, they really shine quite brilliantly in their roles and provide fun for the reader in a simple yet elegant and enjoyable way.
While this manga may not be groundbreaking or even original, it really does what it tries to do very smoothly. Toriyama's writing is as typical of his style as ever and also as enjoyable and fun too. This manga may take close to 1 hour to finish, so why are you still waiting? Just go ahead and read it and decide for yourself. I myself have thoroughly enjoyed it and will certainly check out other stuff from this straightforward yet somehow brilliant writer.
