I initially enjoyed the story, but the kidnapping incident served as a turning point for me. The author's portrayal of the characters handling such a grim subject with such immaturity became apparent. Despite the protagonist's young and isolated background from his past life, he failed to grasp the darkness within humanity or protect himself adequately. Instead of actively confronting the Fang family, he resorted to passivity, neglecting to seek help from his parents or employ security measures. His passivity left me unimpressed.

The grandparents' behavior was equally concerning; in a life-threatening situation, they prioritized personal reconciliation and delaying warnings over their son's safety. Moreover, the transformation of victims into perpetrators, like the deranged prisoner who triggered the protagonist's tragedy, without facing consequences, disgusted me. The Ye family's lack of urgency in dealing with the Fangs after the initial incident, fearing more victims, further frustrated me.

What bothered me the most was how effortlessly the malicious family was dismantled, and the protagonist's easy escape from the kidnapping felt unrealistic, reminding me that this was just a work of fiction. On a positive note, I appreciated the translator's insightful commentary.

In my personal opinion, this novel felt quite ordinary and unremarkable. The characters lacked depth, and both the plot and their personalities were one-dimensional. The antagonists, MC's biological family, were particularly dull, portrayed as clueless villains who believed the world revolved around their spoiled child, Yanyan (the MC's evil doppelganger). These sorts of characters might work well in a more light-hearted or fast-paced story, but in a longer novel like this, they come across as overly cartoonish, verging on comical (like when the MC carelessly tosses away an entire tea set in retaliation).

The protagonist, a reincarnated main character, is somewhat less bland, as he rejects his biological family and sticks with his adoptive one. However, his journey still lacks depth. The writing shows a certain level of immaturity, with minor characters easily swayed by the protagonist's quips or gang dynamics, which contributes to the overall flatness of the narrative.

If this is your first experience with重生或改善生活的题材, this book might serve as a decent read. However, for those seeking a more engaging and complex story, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
