at begining it states very clearly how difficult it is to progress in cultivation but that is disproved even quicker than its explainedby chapter 9 his 2 friends are already at disciple level and MC meets Guards at a singular tiny city that are Duke level. if they are guards then the master of city needs to at least be at king level. for a cultivation novel with 90 levels (10 rank each rank being divided into 9) and MC already meeting people in levels at minimal 54 it truly doesn't show difficulty in progression in cultivation of their are so many that they can be little guards in a singular city ?
