A Crane's Cry in Chang'An

"Oh my goodness!!!"

On February 11, 2011,Ira Glasssaid on hisPRIradio show,This American Life, thatTALstaffers had found a recipe in "Everett Beal's Recipe Book

My best friend Howard had just told me that his father had won a contest at work and that he and his entire family were going on a three month cruise along the asian coast. The reason this bummed me out so much was that while Howard was my best friend he was also my only friend.

Yamada walks to him and held out his hand 'You must be new'. Yamada said to the boy kindly. The boy accepted Yamadas hand fully hearted and gave out a big smile.

"What are you doing here?" he asked. I uncover my mouth. "are you eating?" he said. I nodded my head. He comes closer toward me. I was stunned between him and the kitchen counter. I swallow my food. He caged me with his hands again. I look away. He cupped mychin. My heart beating faster.

Happy: To hell with that! Felgand is destroying countries with an army. You wiped a country by your lonesome.

"W-what? Bakit daw niya ako hinahanap?" Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata sa pagkabigla.

Wait.

The writing is poetic and evocative. Every sentence feels intentional, and the descriptions are so vivid, you can picture every scene in your mind. Truly a work of art.

I am only on chapter 12, and the only real bad thing i have to say about this is that the writing quality is just random for some reason. In some parts, it's good, in others, it's almost unreadable. Other than that, it's a nice, quick read.
