My thoughts after getting through 700 chapters of the storyPros:-Fantasy western-style world of magic, gods, angels, demons, devils, elves, undead, etc with some minor mentions of Chinese cultivations-Does a decent attempt to explain, make fun of and even sometimes subvert typical novel cliches like transmigration, MC’s luck and power progression, plot armor, etc-Decent world building and power scaling descriptions. You won’t be too unfamiliar with how things are and how they work-Some emotional scenes in earlier parts of the novel that will get you involuntarily teary-eyed, even if you’re a cold bastard like me, but these are rare-Beifeng. He’s a side character in the novel. Also ironically the best character in the novel imo. I say ironically since he’s supposed to be the most hated character in-universe. You ever watch the Office? His character’s effect in the show is like Creed. Rarely shown, but when he’s brought up, it’s gonna be good. His character objectively isn’t anything too special, but compared to all of the other characters, he’s the star.Cons:-MC’s power progression is all over the place. He’s powerful then weak then both powerful and weak at the same time (???), he stagnates and improves really slowly then goes back to 0, then stagnates again, goes back to 0, improves slowly, stagnates again, etc. Even in his most powerful moments he still feels like a weakling. Story tries to convince me he was super powerful and fearsome once but still tries to keep him as a goofy weakling the whole time who can only every once-in-a-while manage to scrap out bursts of god-like power to finish opponents who are way out of his league, which are like 90% of his enemies.-MC’s personality is...all over the place, but I would just sum him as pitiful. He’s a contradictory mess of honest heroic dreamer type, evil schemer, mad scientist, and doormat. Mainly doormat though. The guy has no self-respect and it really shows as everyone treats him with no respect, either. The series does make an attempt later on in the story to canonically explain why he’s like this, which kind of makes sense, but once the problem is mostly solved and he’s still the way he is, my goodwill towards this explanation is now mostly gone. This whole thing plays into the “comedy” aspect of the novel which I will mention...now-Comedy. It’s the “everyone hates MC” type, where the MC is the butt of 90% of the jokes. Too bad it’s the same few jokes, that’s repeated multiple times in every single chapter. Really, like every single chapter. Even a great joke gets tiring after hearing it hundreds of times, and these jokes got tiring after chapter 20. More than 700 chapters in, and it’s still the same jokes. Yet again. Ha ha. The humor of the story is kind of like Konosuba, except most of the ridiculing is still aimed towards the male MC than the female companions. I didn’t really like Konosuba much, but I know many people who do, so maybe those people will like the humor? Don’t get me wrong, though. There are some times in the story where the humor is pretty funny. But most of the time it’s like this, so it’s just mostly frustrating.-“Romance”. There isn’t really any “romance” per say, but there is the MC-surrounded-by-girls-who-like-him trope (romantically or otherwise). Expect where other harem series have varied female stereotypes, 90% of the girls are the same profile: strong personalities who constantly ridicule MC while still sticking around him. I would’ve defaulted to “tsundere”, but tsundere personalities tend to be childish or immature, while these girls are not. I won’t put all the blame on them though cause MC likes to say and do stupid shit constantly that’s just asking for him to be ridiculed, but even then, they take it the extra mile and they purposefully antagonize him a lot (of their own volition) which doesn’t make them likable, either. Oh yeah, most of them are more powerful/skilled than him or become moreso later on, so that also doesn’t help matters much for MC since he stays a weakling who takes the brunt of their grievances. There’s only so many times I can read the MC running away from these woman to get respite from this before I just find him sad. But even then, there are at least two specific women around him at all times who he can’t escape from, so he’s just always pitiful. But yet he still ultimately sticks around them, so can I really feel any sympathy for him? Not really. He asks for it and receives triple back. Then comes back for more. Truly pitiful.Overall conclusions:Should you read this novel? Idk. I found myself frustrated with 90% of the characters. The story itself doesn’t compensate for this, so really, if you like the humor, then you might enjoy this story a lot. Otherwise maybe pass this.PS, why the heck are all the women in this story like this? Like, the only somewhat decently-normal woman in the story was previously a man! Is this supposed to be some kind of commentary the author is trying to convey here? That woman are psychos and only a man can be a good woman? The heck kind of semi-incel shit is this?

For people wondering manga anime and novel differs little bit. Especially anime , they add or cut stuff however they want, manga is good and novel is more detailed
