"I love you, Aires," she whispered, her heart racing as she bent down to retrieve the letter that had fallen at his feet. Her eyes met his, and she could feel her courage faltering. "Do you really mean it?" she questioned, her voice barely above a whisper. Aires, looking surprised, picked up the paper, his gaze locking onto hers. She noticed a hint of unfamiliarity in his tone when he replied, "Who wrote this, huh? You think I could ever love someone like you? Someone with a flat chest, a plain figure, braces on your teeth, and always tripping over your own feet?" His words stung, and her emotions swirled inside her. Feeling overwhelmed, she nodded hesitantly, mustering the courage to express her feelings. As his piercing stare swept over her, she stood frozen, unable to move. "But you... you can't mean that," she choked out, tears welling up in her eyes. And with those harsh words, she ran away, tears streaming down her face like tributaries of sorrow, leaving behind a trail of hurt and disbelief.
