    speaking objectively the author had 2 choices: 1. end the boss quickly and make up for it with the escape tension(which he chose to do) 2. make the boss fight the climax and think of a way to feasibly convince the readers that the mcs, who would be wounded probably, could escape the remaining enemies and make it to the gate in time. I think he chose the right route but that's juts my opinion.
