    The people fighting are too "close" and friendly with eachother for us to really feel like all of humanity is at stake. The gods who are fighting respect and admire humanity so much in most cases it actually makes no sense they are fighting at all. No human fighting feels like they have a stake in the game as well since they died a very long time ago and have no ties to anyone living aside from a base "human" connection which the story doesn't do well capitalizing on. The gods just seem like petty children with a lot of power, which is pretty true to Greek/Roman lore though not most other pantheons which reduces the grandeur to that of a schoolyard brawl. I agree with khrysos points as well.
