Decent and somewhat generic take on the isekai formula, with the MCs being a sword in this case, this means that for once we get no harem (so far), one thing to be thankful for at least, and a loli black cat, so two MCs combo, and I actually like the arrangement, it works quite well if a bit too OP, I'm expecting to see some growth on both of them but mainly the cute black cat chan, it's really to early to tell. In any case, I like both chars somewhat. Other than them, there are quite a few secondary chars but none really important so far.
Story-wise, there is nothing to it, the sword is a transmigrated soul from our world, from Japan, and Fran is a member of the weakest race in the fantasy world that for some reason can't evolve (not her, her race), so she intends to break the cycle, evolve and create a better world for her people, that's it (so far at least, the sword origin should play a role at some point too).
As for the art and drawing, it's quite good, not particularly great, but char designs can be cute or beautiful when wanted and it has a nice level of detail also, it's not overly generic either.
All in all, a decent read so far, I'm enjoying it and will keep an eye out, it's not anything great imo thou, just nice to kill some time.
Wow i just shocked when i found out that two other works from this artist manga Oshigerinanshi - Rouchou Tanten no Yotogibanashi and Gachirin ni Kiri Saku was drawing one of my favourite webnovel story "i reincarnated as sword".
especially gachirin ni kiri saku, it was quite dark and gore
Well on the topic , i can say this was a good story, the interaction with papa sword and fran was heart warming.
you won't regret reading it, the web novel already on chapter 500, while the volume 4 manga was on chapter 50 at web novel. If this manga did not get axed or such, i can say we can get over 20 volumes easily.
The turned-into-a-sword protagonist aka "master" treats here like his kid if quite overprotective of her "virtue". There definitely is some loli fanservice in the drawings but the MC´s thoughts about her are not perverted.
note: "..." stands for words used in the manga.
At times I enjoy powerful girl action manga and this one is definitely enjoyable if you can deal with said loli fanservice.
I'll quickly recreate my review for the novel, however keep in mind that the manga differs quite early:
Pretty straightforward comedic reincarnation fantasy, of the sub-genre Unusual Reincarnation, this time as a Sword of OP +10.
The weakest part is the beginning, filled with the usual dreary supergrinding and superfast leveling. Even if the MC is a floating sword, it gets tiresome how easily he mows down mobs and bosses just like that. The OP-ness of the story comes from the sword's capability to just absorb enemy skills, and then share it with someone wielding the sword. Thankfully, we soon come across our REAL main character, Fran, the kemonomimi child who then becomes the focal point of the story as she cutely OPs everything in sight with her sword and climbs the ranks of the Adventurer's Guild.
OPness levels: mid-high, ridiculously fast rise, but not yet able to destroy everyone; main strength comes from skill diversity and having access to a ridiculous sampling of skills
RPGosity: mid-high, the usual Scan/Appraisal skill things, status screens up the wazoo, Skills being a discrete Thing that you can absorb, stats and damage; all of this is integrated and alluded to by everyone in the story
Cutidity: so cute
Story?: yes, some
Characters?: characters!
The manga, edited and worked on by professionals, takes the weak beginning of the story and improves it 560% by cutting the sword's solo grinding and starting right off the bat with the meeting between the sword and Fran (possibly putting the sword's grind into a flashback, hopefully short). The action scene is more exciting and expanded upon to give everyone more character, including the slavers. Everything is just better.
And this is just chapter 1!
I'll definitely buy the final volume!
