    I feel like Author-san designed Ashiya to be in the same place as Konomi, to be the one getting all this screen time and development, but didn't realize that Konomi logically fits the story better because she's directly involved, whereas Ashiya has to be kept at a distance on the issue and started to slowly lean more into Konomi. Intentionally or not, I don't think I've ever seen a story where the Friend character had better overall chemistry than the Romantic interest.
