    there are a lot of harem manga where the protagonist clearly reject the girls' advances

    Oh... it seems I am obliged to review my opinion of Ninomya, he can still be a prick but admittedly he never really said anything that wasn't true and he has shown that he nurtures talent and others' objectives, and this flashback shows that he isn't angry with Hatohara because she betrayed them... he angry because she didn't share her worries.

    This dumb kid is even more emotional than I first thought XD.

    He cares, that is why he is so hurt by all that... yeah, I can get behind that, not like I need every character to be a perfect person, but it is good to see that I really misjudged Ninomya's true personality.
