I think you missed the point. The MC need to ensure the win at all cost because if he lost the duel it would literally lead to the tragedy that he is trying to prevent. The MC might know about the blessings and talents of the captured targets from the game but that doesn't mean it will go well in reality. The MC also provoked and made it a 5 on 1 which is already unfair so even if he uses cowardly tactic and win, they wouldn't shamelessly ask for a rematch. He isn't here to show that he is strong, he isn't here to shut the captured targets up. His main point is to prevent Anatasia from losing the duel which will lead to a war and he achieved all that.
It isn't low brain, it's carefulness and resourcefulness.
He looks at the bigger picture and not some petty fight just to shame other.
