    BBBRRRRUUUUUUHHHHH ... I'm low-key mad at the author. He could have just avoided that weird breakup thing or done it differently to have the same effect rather than make the MC a simp/beta/pussy; even if he got the girl in the end, there was nothing admirable about how it went down as a guy. Even Meguro post-breakup was leaving him "on read" and didn't want to see him later.
    At this point it was like the author switched genres from "shounen, comedy, romance" to "shoujo, fantasy, romance."
