MC actually acts smart, takes cash rewards, and after the initial crew doesn't screw everything that moves.
Space is an interesting and novel setting for an isekai as welll.
I've been a fan of open-ended space-opera games, it brings up memories.
The MC is at least not dumb or stupid, he also have some common sense when he don't put his hands on the young daughter of a noble despite his partner's machinations.
Isekai tends to be in a european-medieval-fantastic setting. This one is out of the usual trope with a futuristic-interstellar setting.
Science-fictions tend to be all dark and serious: dystopia, post-apocalypse, virus, ... This one has a rare light, kind of feelgood, mood. Just the life of a mercenary in a distant futuristic universe.
Action: Not repetitive. Space battles are mixed with life aboard a starship and life abord a space station, with some close-quarter fights, including the use of a space armor. Enemies can be: pirates, monsters, armies, robots, ... When not fighitng, a futuristic everyday life can be experienced with some museum visits, futuristic cooking, even a resort-planet.
Romance / Sex: The male main character is slowly but steadily building a harem. Nude/sexe scene are ellipsed (so: not hentai), but still present. The MC is quite normal: not a sex addict, but also not timid.
I wish I could find more of this style (science-fiction + ~ feelgood). The closest one I found is The Galactic Navy Officer Becomes An Adventurer
Extensive world building, cool space battles without becoming a bore, lots of character development for all characters, and a restraint shown that seems to make this manga a bit higher quality than the LN.
Art is nice as well.
I expected less seriousness from a story-board perspective but it likes to take itself fairly seriously and even points out things that seem like a bit of a stretch without giving the feeling of lampshading.
It's definitely worth a look, though for slightly older teens and up.
i know of elite but havent palyed it to understand the likes, that said, manga is toned down from original wn which got him licensed anyway, this isekai story is mostly original but the romance/harem aspect was shot down once he got licensed, i am for harem and he just made sure to put harem elements and additions in semi regularly, while i enjoy the space geek parts, the leaving out intial main chara female to become a semi side joke was terrible plot wise, reading further along, the author only implaments romance/harem elements after complaints or views down, to increase followers, etc...,when u wait 350 chpts to even get said main femaile chara back into possible relations...well, read manga for visuals, read the ln for maybe something more polished, read the wn for regulars updates (as of now till author stops)
First off, the original novel could not make it any more obvious "Stella Online" is just "Elite: Dangerous" with the serial numbers filed off. There are lots of obvious references E😀 players will pick up on.
Second, the manga adaptation drops most of these references and the result is a pretty generic sci-fi harem isekai at best.
I'd only really recc this if you have played Elite, and even if you have you'd probably have more fun looking up the novel translations and reading those instead.
Finally some good F-ing content. We need more isekai that break away from the norm and create original stories and settings rather than just ridding a dying trend of tropes. Well done.
Pretty much just elite dangerous isekai. There has to some difference but you can see the similarity and predict some of the stuff that will happen.
