Kitazawa-kun wa A Class

This manga is great, but...the authors have a bit historical problem. Shokugeki no Souma was great, midway. Then the later-half somehow became weird and threw things haphazardly. I just hope this manga won't follow that kind of problem.

when you're axed, SJ usually gives you a period of time to wrap up the manga as you see fit. they can usually just cap it off with a "to be continued/see you next time," but heres its pretty clear the author is trying to rush the story into the meta narrative to reach a conclusion. the same thing happened with the toriko authors new manga, it just skips several arcs worth of development to introduce totally new mechanics that were planned beforehand and most likely needed to be introduced over a longer period.

i think you're correct it was always meant to be a deconstruction, but once he got the axe, the mangaka was essentially painted into a corner and had to exposition dump his way into a confusing, breakneck paced conclusion that is totally jarring compared to how it started. had he been given time to develop his story, im sure we wouldve been drip fed elements of the meta narrative and reached it more naturally.
