This manga doesn't leave a good first impression. The main character is a huge a-hole with a god complex. He bullies others because he's physically stronger than they are. He destroys other people's property because he feels like it. He's loud and obnoxious and likes to call attention to himself. The way he conducts himself is really embarrassing, to be honest with you. I get that he's supposed to be a delinquent, but he just comes off as a complete clown instead of someone dangerous and dark.
I might continue reading to see where this goes, but a main character like this is really hard to root for. I just find him unpleasant through and through, with not a single redeeming quality. I usually really like the anti-hero type, but there has to be complexity and depth to the character to keep me engaged. Just having a bad attitude is not attractive. Putting it simply, I don't like this main character one bit.
I don't give 10s lightly. This thing just gets my heart pounding though. The protagonist is awesome. His rivals got that cool professional thing going but isn't a jerk. He keeps crushing all the guys causing him problems and it's fun. I never feel blue reading this.
I love this manga, i love sports manga in general and this one is one y top list becuse the growth of the characters , the anticipation it makes readers feel and dont forget the laughter , it makes you ROTFL
I like sports manga but there haven't been many that truly captivated me. Eyeshield 21, Rookies, Baby Steps and Slam Dunk are among the very best, and many sports manga fail to measure up to that standard. King Golf has so far been very satisfying and promises to reach greater heights. I've read up to Chapter 39, and I think the author has done a wonderful job of keeping me, someone almost completely ignorant of golf, interested and excited to read the next chapter. In other words, even if you don't like golf, or don't know much about it now, you are missing out if you don't read this manga. Sousuke, aka the Predator, is a pure delinquent turned delinquent golf lover. And he's quite the character. Very interesting. He announces from the get-go that he's the man who's gonna be the Pirate Ki-- .... I mean Golf King. Not afraid to lose, not afraid to challenge himself as well as the elite and those who look down on him, he has no hesitation when it comes to devouring his opponents whole. With a character like him, and the author's intelligent approach to engaging the readers, this manga is a must-follow. Advertisement end.
This manga have been looking great so far and have lots of potentional, the main hero got a likeable personality and he isn't annoying. I just hope that this manga doesn't turn out like prince of tennis with a bunch of unrealistic moves because that would totaly kill it.
I just hope this manga keep a pretty realistic approach and keeps going like it has so far.
Even from just the few chapters that have been scanlated, this series is already starting to look like it's going to be amazing. The art is accurate, and the story has a good pace, slower than a lot of other manga's, but not a snail's pace. Definitely a great manga to keep your eye on. This may very well become the next Prince of Tennis.
