    I don't see why she couldn't have just talked it out with them. They may have different experiences, but they're clearly still "her" and would listen to what she said.

    I suspect the author wanted to focus on her new companions and tie up loose ends, since they fulfill the role of "side characters" that the parallel wills once did. It would be a bit weird to have a story where half the characters are... the MC. Still, kind of a cold way to end them...
