the series reads a lot more like an american survival zombie show than a korean drama zombie show. MC already has a do or die set of morals, so it becomes interesting to see when he chooses to take the easy way out by killing his problems vs not. the monsters are coming from rifts and there are hunters that do "awaken" but the MC never becomes awakened nor makes typical shonen style allies. in my opinion it makes the story much more interesting when he has to ally with murderers, cult leaders, or corrupt officials. the story itself stretches over years, with chapters focusing on key events in the MC's survival bunker, and does feel like the author researched many survival guides before writing the story. it is s
This is one of those instances where the author has given up completely on the story and instead relies on the artist to create illusions of spectacle when there is none.
Survival? Nope. Realism? More like half-assed meaningless cynicism, and not even a consistent one. Characters? What character?
Yeesh. I was not expecting this unrelenting cynicism. Like, the MC is the poster child for practicality.
He makes friend because he's still human and humans are unfortunately pack animals no matter how hard they deny it. He's also VERY human in that he still cares about being "liked" and joins an online community.
He understandably also deludes himself on occasion, and it makes a point to say that that's okay. In moderation. It's just self preservation instincts in a scary, lawless world.
So, though I find it alternately boring and tedious I will still continue reading.
Hopefully there's no romance...
Where is the game system? Modern and stable society? Jokes?
Nope, the plot of this one is about The End of World and how the Protagonist deals with the situation.
It's dark, heavy and realistic, the pace is slow, but you can feel empathy with the characters.
You do not need to like this one, is like black coffee without sugar, you can drink and dislike the taste, yet understand about those who liked it.
Better reviews please, taste and quality are two different things.
There isn't anything to act as comic relief or otherwise balance all the dark content. You don't get to see much stockpiling of resources, the MC is mostly a loner but takes in a woman and her daughter for seemingly no reason. There is constant flashbacks that make it hard to tell when the present or really what is going on. You constantly get shown threats and the MC kills people while his past is kept vague, but there is no proper build up and suspense to it all. The story seems like the author knows what they are doing and is trying to leave a breadcrumb trail of clues and slowly build up the story, but it just really wasn't for me.
Even if it's a portal invasion manwha, it doesn't contain any bullshit power/game interface. Just the most realistic reaction the world will have if this happen.
Man, I'm growing tired of manhwas in general, koreans are really masters of HYPE... at first, the stories seem really good, promising and with deep meaning and thought, but as the stories unfolds, you realize it was 100% hype all along, zero storytelling skills.
And yes, as I said, this is not a exclusive critic of this title, but a plague that infest all Manhwas in general, with VERY RARE exceptions.
