A great unifying figure never emerged in Europe, did it stop wars? Fuck no, quite the opposite. European history is a thousand years of pointless fighting and bickering for no gains. Napoleon was the closest to someone like Ying Zheng, but he failed to accomplish the deed. WWII and then the Cold War finally jolted the euros skulls enough that they realize the importance of working together. The European Union was meant to bring together these disparate states economically, a pale shadow compared to what was accomplished in China 2000 years ago. And for the astute observers, European Union is already finished, it will go down in history as another failed attempt.
