All things considered... Lacrima seems to be a good kid, even with her unfortunate upbringing she seems to have a good heart, her obliviousness is more from education (or lack thereof) than from a lack of empathy.
Seeing how she can use her power in such smart ways, but doesn't have the fine control to really use it efficiently, is a subtle storytelling of how much she was oppressed and limited in her life, but the fact that she still has the imagination to use some of those tactics shows that she still has talent, it just wasn't properly nurtured.
