    That is why the "nature" of the demons' spell is important, Kanchome's power deals with the mind, and control over the body, he wasn't exactly the most talented or had the most prepared spirit but during the last contest, he got a grasp of the nature of his power.

    It wasn't exactly outright said, but there were many moments you see during the first series that show that the most powerful demon kids were those that understood the nature of their power, and reinforced their bodies to deal with the output of high-level skills and even bring out more power from the lower ones too... but even then their powers were ingrained in their beings, one way or another their bodies are made to have that power.

    But I am surprised still, Kanchome showing that growth, truth be told his growth was cut short in the last series... I won't say why, for those that didn't read the first, but even then it was a good journey, and seeing the full picture of the young man he became is satisfying.
