    Theory time, Kaida (one of the survivors from the new humans civilization) could be a new or hybrid human who is just observing these people. Cause I find it weird that their expression hasn't changed at all till they hugged the hero and shivered. Very weird.

    I particularly recommends the old ones : chrono trigger, xenogears, star oceans, final fantasies, grandia, Ys, etc.
    I don't play many modern jrpgs, but if you interested in nowadays jrpg : God Eater, nier automata, persona/SMT series, Tales, octopath, cold steel, monhunt, souls.

    My personal favorite : suikoden I, suikoden II, breath of fire IV, trails in the sky FC SC , ff IX, ff IV, ff VII, brave fencer Musashi, hack Gu, chrono trigger and Jean d arc
