Actually thinking about it, the bigger shock is that this implies Karla is not only capable of being saying and doing nice things but voluntarily avoiding doing so because she's sees being affectionate as embarrassing. It also shows she clearly knows the effects of her spells due to how she was capable of using them as a threat to avoid getting called out. She's text book tsundere, just a bit more TsunTsun than usual.

No emotional draw is successful, I do not care if a character is crying if they cry every single chapter over every single situation. You have cheapened it, it has lost any and all impact because it is not earned. Danger does not register, I don't think these characters are in trouble in a way that makes me worry, I see them in trouble and think about how stupid they are to be moving on from their last training ground that they barely survived without meaningful growth since then. Just because you killed the strongest enemy in an area once, does NOT mean you should go to the next area, especially if it is a significant increase (which is gigantic at this point, MC says a high-levelled version of the boss would kill them all) are you not specifically trying to grind? Why are you all so bad at it then?
