You, sir, should try putting yourself in other people's shoes. Look up some murder cases and read about the lives of criminals. Think about what you would have done if you had been in the same shoes. The mind is a blank slate at birth, discounting mental issues or abnormalities that could cause someone to be evil. Some people are raised to be evil, others become evil in much the same way this main character did; others treating them poorly. Almost no one is born evil in the same way that no one is born racist, it's a learned behavior( once again, discounting people born with mental issues).
Just a heads up but most of the action stuff starts after about chapter 150. It also starts picking up the pace around that part. I know that's a heck lot to read but trust me, it gets really really good after that point.
