I get this is growth for Mashiba. I get that Ippo is learning stuff as a corner man. All well and good. But honestly who gives a fuck? This stretching out of the story when Ippo isn’t even fighting is so fucking boring and agonizing. I really want to see him return and I love certain parts of the this series but it’s like cutting myself with a knife each time I open a short ass chapter and it doesn’t point towards Ippo coming back. I don't think it has to start in elementary school. It hits his cousin in middle school, and the loli on the Volume 7 cover easily looks like it could be him. Seems like the kind of joke this mangaka would make. MC goes from a grumpy tall guy to an adorable  loli.
