Art: 10/10. Junji Ito's artistic style is nothing short of amazing. His ability to transform something as simple as a spiral into something extraordinary surpasses many other horror manga artists.

Character: 5/10. There were moments when I questioned the purpose of certain characters. Additionally, they sometimes veered off-topic.

Enjoyment: 7/10. What truly made this book enjoyable for me was primarily the illustrations. The storyline was decent but not outstanding.

Overall: 6/10. Despite the fantastic art, a good story and well-developed characters are essential to make a manga great. If you don't find yourself deeply enjoying the manga, it may not be the best choice for you.

Tomie, by Junji Ito, presents an intriguing tale about an immortal succubus who repeatedly meets her demise at the hands of men. Each time she dies, she reincarnates as "Tomie" and resumes her predatory pursuit of men. As the story unfolds, readers learn more about Tomie's nature and the bizarre circumstances she encounters, with each resolution proving captivating.

The narrative, which might otherwise seem mundane, is elevated by Junji Ito's stunning and eerie artwork. Despite its seemingly plain storyline, the manga remains surprisingly engaging. Even with nearly 800 pages, I found myself reading it swiftly, never feeling bored.

I do recommend Tomie for those who enjoy horror; if you're a fan of Junji Ito's other works, I STRONGLY suggest giving Tomie a read. It took Ito 25 years to complete this series, allowing readers to witness his artistic evolution from basic yet inspired beginnings to his current mastery.

Without a doubt, this is the finest horror manga I've ever come across. The narrative is exceptional from start to finish, weaving through various stages of Tomie's life. Regarding the artwork, I believe it merits more than just a perfect score. Initially, it may not be the easiest to read or even particularly impressive. However, you can clearly observe Junji Ito's progression and his growing expertise in character design, making Tomie the stunningly deranged girl she embodies. Moreover, he has been a long-standing inspiration for my own art. The characters are also brilliantly crafted. Tomie stands out as a narcissistic sociopath and compulsive liar, irresistibly drawing every man who crosses her path into madness. It was an immensely enjoyable read, and the conclusion truly made it all worthwhile.
