It was an excellent book with a lovely story. I particularly enjoyed the concept of "para-dreams" and aura powers, which added a unique twist to the narrative. While I would have preferred a different ending, that's just my personal take; others might appreciate it as it is.
Overall, the story was crafted well, and the characters blended seamlessly into the plot, making it a worthwhile read.
One of the finest manga I have ever had the pleasure of reading.
Story: It's an intriguing narrative that keeps you hooked, urging you to read on and on. Regrettably, the conclusion didn't quite match my personal tastes, but it was still remarkably good.
Art: The artwork is excellent, though I've come across superior examples.
Characters: The primary characters were well fleshed out, although the secondary ones felt somewhat neglected.
Overall: I wished the ending had been drawn out a bit more; there were still aspects I was eager to see unfold. Additionally, the conceptualization of the auras was exceptionally well done.
Psychic Academy presents a straightforward story without any groundbreaking plot developments, yet remains enjoyable. My sole complaint about the entire plot is the ending—a HUGE CLIFFHANGER. Some might argue that mentioning this spoils the series, but I believe you should be aware of it xD *See REAL spoiler at the end of the post*. Additionally, unnecessary fan-service irks me (even though I'm a boy), but that could just be my personal preference.
Here's how I rated various aspects:
Story: It would have earned a 7 if it had a proper ending; as it stands, I give it a 6.
Art: The excessive fan-service brings it down from a potential 7 to a 6.
Characters: They're simply good, earning a 7, but nothing exceptional.
Enjoyment: This too could have been a 7, but the fan service was too distracting, dropping it to a 6.
Overall: Minus one point for the unsatisfactory ending and another for the fan-service, resulting in a 5.
Post Scriptum: Recently, I've experimented with different review styles to gauge which ones people find most helpful. This particular review is quite plain and avoids specific story spoilers.
***SPOILER***
I despise non-happy endings, and opinions on this vary—some agree, some don't. Regardless, the romance doesn't conclude happily. If I correctly interpret that the main character realizes his love by the end (though I'm not entirely sure), the person he loves vanishes.
This is a fantastic series in my opinion, comparable to the Mx0 series due to the male protagonist's tumultuous journey through school and their exaggerated fame. However, this series ranks at 4xxxth... lol.
Story:8
From the start, the author reveals the hidden potential of the male protagonist and gradually adjusts his power, with other characters' behaviors and abilities remaining consistent [coherent].
Romance parts were quite thrilling as well, although even till the end there never seemed like a proper conclusion to all the romance plots placed inside.
However, towards the end and the final parts, the story began to include some cliffhangers, especially in the last few chapters. And the ending is truly mysterious and somehow sad... which doesn't seem to be a good conclusion.
Art:9
Very clear... I could understand most, if not all of the panel drawings, and the art is excellent. Enough said.
Character:8
Character development is very good for the main characters, showing how their past led them to their present, and most main characters have both positive and negative sides. However, some side characters were not well developed at all, e.g., the Principal of the academy.
Enjoyment:9
The excitement level throughout the story was very high, at least until the end. Lots of action, comedy, etc. I read several consecutive chapters at once.
Overall: 8
A good series overall, the concept of "aura" was very well developed, including weaknesses for certain elements. However, the ending seems rushed (or completed during a sleepy state) and somewhat brought down the series a little. Should read this if you enjoyed Mx0.
