He could've just made a mecha like Armored Core, but instead made a generic big ass golem (a literal giant to defeat as a boss as usual)

It also presented a greater threat with knowledge like him and that they're using it to empower there members. They can also have already infiltrated positions of power and could use this position to enact their plans. This raised the threat when the story needed it the most.

Sure wish this would come out more often.
