    Man! DMC Rocks!

The art is incredible! I love the way everything is drawn! The story...obviously differs from the game but still is fantastic! And the characters are to die for!

I mean, Dante with his cocky masquerade! And Vergil with his silent but deadly personality...

    It's lovely! xDD

But however, as criticism is always required...I don't like the fact that DMC is in Wonderland...-____- Meh.

I loved Alice in Wonderland as a kid. It made me smile! But after the DMC manga...I can't imagine the Mad Hatter the same ever again. O.o

I definitely recommend this to anyone though! xDD It was an amazing manga!

This manga is set a year before the events of Devil May Cry 3, the video game. This puzzled me because Vergil seems to be doing the same things he does in the game, and the second volume concludes with a scene directly from the video game.

Oh well, you shouldn't always expect perfect continuity when it comes to other forms of media within a franchise.

Keep in mind, this review is based on the official Tokyo Pop translation, not the raw translation available on the Devil's Lair website.

    The translation isn't very good...

Dante's dialogue is a stark contrast to his personality in the video game. His character is more akin to the DmC reboot Dante that many fans dislike. His attitude is exaggerated, and he comes across as an obnoxious jerk rather than the charming smart-mouth we know from the games. At least the raw translation improved that; perhaps Tokyo Pop was trying to make him edgier? Vergil remains mostly consistent, though he has a few lines that seem more suited to immature smart-mouthing Dante should have had.

The art is amazing! I have no complaints about the artwork! The manga artist did a fantastic job keeping it close to the style from the games.

As mentioned, the story takes place a year before DMC3. We still see Lady making a few appearances and some new characters are introduced. The manga delves a bit deeper into Dante's past, so if you're interested in exploring that, this manga is definitely worth picking up!

There was supposed to be a third volume (Code 3: Lady), but sadly the manga artist quit the project, leading to its cancellation. I assume it would have focused more on Lady's character, backstory, and how she began her journey...but we'll never know.

If you can overlook the poor translation, I recommend this manga to any Devil May Cry fan! I love the games and had fun reading this.

Since this manga is out of print, finding physical volumes might be challenging, but I found my copies on ThriftBooks for less than $5. Alternatively, if you prefer the raw translation, you can read it on the Devil's Lair.

If you can't find the right links, just message me, and I'll provide them to you.

A rather mediocre and forgettable addition to the DmC series, this entry boasts decent art but lacks proper canon status and mostly comes across as a throwaway. I appreciated the Alice in Wonderland-themed visuals, even though they seemed to appear out of nowhere. I would genuinely enjoy seeing that kind of atmosphere incorporated into one of the main games, but given how disposable this particular installment is, I doubt we'll ever witness Dante exploring a dark and twisted Wonderland.

The biggest drawback here is undoubtedly its incomplete and rushed feel. If it were longer and took the time to flesh out its concepts more thoroughly, it could have been significantly better. However, it's so brief and barely relevant to the main games that it leaves much to be desired.
